Livestock is highlighted by livestock tradition of our region and wide grasslands. The livestock, one of the most important sources of income for our region, has a great importance by providing that employment, providing source to nutrition and many other industries.

By the impact of the increase in the state support in recent years, an improvement is observed in our region for the establishment of large-scale enterprises from the traditional farming methods. In thıs case, the sector has contributed positively to the development due to the implementation of modern farming methods and providing an increase in productive race.

Livestock has a great potential in the province's economy since pasture that forms half of the total land. Livestock breeding is mostly in sheep, goats and the cattle breeding. Beekeeping and honey production is also one of the important activities.

Although the economy of Solhan is based on agriculture and livestock, in recent years, the economy of the district has been gaining diversity with new investments such as water packaging, dairy processing, and furniture production.

Meadows, pastures and plateaus spread throughout the district, and also it constitutes a strip extending Şerafettin Mountains in the north of the district. The high plateaus located here have been rented to nomads throughout the year. The economy of Karlıova is mainly based on animal husbandry. Pasture farming is widespread; livestock are performed in very small amounts. The dried herbs in the summer picked to feed the animals are used as feed. The most active trading in the district is purchasing and sale of live animal and animal products.

In the Genç district livestock is carried out as goat farming in the mountain villages, sheep farming in plain village and dairy farming.  Recently in the district, it has been concentrated on the livestock, the projects about the dairy cow breeding, sheep breeding and fodder were implemented; in this context, on the one hand, while providing employment opportunities, on the other hand instead of the low-yielding breeds is intended to encourage the culture of high-yielding breeds.

Integrated cattle and sheep husbandry investments come into prominence due to both experience in the industry of our city, and marketing opportunities due to its geographical position, and the advantages of the state support in this area.
